Today, Motorola Solutions announced the launch of MOTOTRBO system release 2.4. Included in this release are several interesting and useful features, more information about this can be found here.

Included in this release is a new version of CPS (Version 11.0); Radio Management (Version 1.7) and RDAC (Version 6.0). In Europe and Africa, the CPS and Radio Management can be downloaded from Motorola Online. If you don't have Motorola Online access, please contact your local Motorola Reseller to receive an update.

In order to support these features, radio will need to be upgraded to the latest firmware. The (now discontinued) DP/DM3000 series is not included in this update.

The latest firmware and CPS versions can be seen at http://cwh050.blogspot.de/p/the-latest-firmware.html. If you are looking to download any of these please read this and this.

  1. Dear Wayne,
Do you know if DP4801 is capable to decode 5-tone ZVEI code by displaying the 5 digits on the display ?

  2. Thank you for your response.
How is this possible ? Could you give some advice how to do it ?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. In the 5-Tone Decoder Definitions, add one Decoder Definition and in the Sequence field put (A1A2A3A4A5). In the Zone, add a 5-Tone channel and make sure the Decoder Defintion you added is in the Decode Telegrams table (i.e. not in the Available table). Lastly, make sure that the Signaling System in 5-Tone Sys1 is ZVEI1. Note: (A1A2A3A4A5) includes the brackets.

This will make the radio display the decoded digits and beep when a Select-5 sequence is sent from another radio. To disable the beep, select None in Private Call Tone if decoder Definition 1. The radio will also only decode sequences which contain 5 digits. You can add up to eight digits by adding A6A7A8 in the brackets of Decoder Definition 1. In R2.4, you can increase this up to 20 digits.

  4. Hello Mr. Holmes!
I have a problem with the SL 1600 (very nice radio btw!), when reading it in CPS, I get Error #1100.
The CPS reads successfully, but I get the error after reading, and I can't open the codeplug.

I use CPS v 11.0, Windows 7, 64 bit, but have no trouble reading any other radio model. I use cable 25-124330-01R.

I hope you got time to answer, as I have customers waiting :-(
    Thank you!

    1. This can happen if the language on the PC is set to anything other than English. The fix is to either change the language in Windows Regional Options or to change the 000 separator from a dot to something else.

A permanent fix will be made in the next CPS release. The error will only be seen with version 11.0 and only on a non-English PC.

  6. Thanks a lot!
The format was sat to English (USA). I changed the decimal from , to . and it worked.

Your work on this site is much appreciated!

    1. Pleasure :-) I forgot to add that the error will only be seen with CPS version 11.0 and only on a non-English PC *and* only with the SL1600. All other combinations will be okay.

  7. hello, I am writing from Colombia, before asking, thank you very much for creating this site, I find it very useful for Motorola community. Now my question: I understand that the new text protocol released in 2.4 allows communication with other digital factories. With version 2.4 we also communication protocol data in GPS and ARS with other manufacturers DMR?

    1. Probably not: GPS in MOTOTRBO follows the LRRP protocol which no other manufacturer uses. ARS *might* wok but I've never tested this.

    1. Same procedure as above, just replace (A1~A8) with (S1~S3) and add some entries to the Status List.
