Backup your keys!

The optional TLS mechanism used by MOTOTRBO radios and repeaters offers a higher level of data security when compared to codeplug passwords. When Security Mode is set to Enhanced, both data at rest and in transit are protected since the CPS/RM and radio carry out mutual authentication and any transferred codeplug data is also encrypted.

The risk is - and here is where you need to be careful - what happens if there is data loss (e.g. the PC on which CPS is installed, stops working and the disk drive contents are irretrievable)? There is no way to retrieve the Pre-Shared Key (PSK) and, in order to reprogram it, the radio(s) would need to be returned to Motorola Solutions for repair.
Sending the radio in for this essentially involves wiping the codeplug contents (a factory reset of sorts).

To avoid this nasty surprise, make a physical backup of your CPS/RM Pre-Shared Keys. Save it somewhere safe, ideally somewhere else. Personally, I use Google Drive as our Home NAS failed recently and USB sticks tend to grow legs in the Holmes household.
