About me

I work for Motorola Solutions in Germany and help Motorola Channel Partners in Eastern Europe with all technical aspects of the technologies they sell - mostly MOTOTRBO (DMR); WAVE PTX (PoC) and Safety Ecosystem (Video-Analytics-Voice-Integration).

I've with the company since 1998 and have worked as a technician instructor and in technical support. Before that I worked at a number of companies in the manufacturing; telecommunications and public service sectors.

My interest electronics led me into various hobbies like shortwave listening; Hi-Fi; Deejaying and eventually Amateur Radio. I've been a licenced radio amateur since 1989. Initially, I wanted to go into radio broadcasting but soon realized that at that time, there were limited career opportunities and  I was no good as a DJ.

When asked where I'm from, my response is "I am German but am not German". I was born in South Africa and moved to Germany in 2010. This means that I have no interest in football (soccer) and think Asparagus and Schlager are equally distasteful. I'm married and have two children. My wife is also a licenced radio amateur.

The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the positions, strategies, or opinions of my employer, Motorola Solutions.

The purpose of this Blog is to assist Motorola Channel Partners (and whoever else may be interested) with various aspects of two-way radio communications. This is a personal project for which I receive no formal support or financing. I do however, get to use material like images and extracts from (publicly available) manuals and so forth.

What you read here does not constitute official Motorola engineering recommendations, you are welcome to use our suggestions but do so at your own risk (caveat emptor).
