Answers to various questions

I had several questions over last few months which I never got around to answering - party because I was busy (hence the reason for the lack of posts here) but because the answers were fairly short and simple.

If you would like to ask a question and see the answer as a (it's own, much longer) post, send it here

[Q] I wonder if it is possible to change encryption keys, add and delete keys in the RM program? If so, how is this possible?

[A] Yes, that is possible. Just update the keys in the configuration, save and schedule a write job to all affected radios. For more information how to each of these, see this video and read this document.

[Q] I setup 4 talk group. Three talkgoups are in Cap Max and 1 is in Digital channel. I want to scan one of the talkgroups in Cap Max when am on Digital Channel T.G DMR. My question is can I scan a Cap Max channel when I'm on Digital Channel DMR? (ed)

[A] No, it is not possible to include a Capacity Max Personality in a conventional scan list. When a radio is on a Capacity Max system it is registered there. When switching to a conventional channel, the radio deregisters from the network.

[Q] I need to install an audio interface with the TETRA MXM600 radio. I'll use the 26 pins accessory connector. I already install the interface with all Motorola old radios, Mototrbo and APX radios with no problem, but it appears that the MXM600 does not have the "COR/PL/DPL/Talkgroup Detect" pin mapped for use in the 26 pins accessory connector. Would you have any hints?

[A] My (limited) TETRA knowledge is from before 2016. Back then, the TETRA radios did not have an output like that. Thee workaround in those days was to use "VOX": as soon as audio appears on the output trigger the COR line. Some hardware is able to do this but some needed an external circuit which was easy enough to build.

[Q] Is there a way (Multi Site Capacity Plus) to have a voting site also act as a transmitter. I’d like for my 3 site system to Vote receive (same frequency) multicast all site (different frequency).

[A] I don't think that's possible.

[Q] Do you have a copy of firmware R02.60 (also known as R02.06) for the Motorola Mototrbo XPR 7550 that you would be willing to send me a copy of?

[A] No, I cannot share software with just anyone. Have a look here to see how to get help with this.
