Invalid battery detection; Wi-Fi control and more
Enhanced Battery Detection
R2.10.0 introduces the ability for MOTOTRBO radios to detect non-Motorola batteries and alert the user. This would be useful for customers who choose to buy genuine batteries and gives them the confidence that they were supplied the real thing.Wi-Fi On-Off Control and WAVE
It is now also possible to enable or disable Wi-Fi via an over the air radio command. This could be used a number of possible ways but here's two I thought of:The Wi-Fi could be turned on only when the radio is at a depot (or some central location) for a firmware and/or configuration update.
The Wi-Fi could be turned on only when the radio is indoors or within Wi-Fi coverage allowing communications over WAVE.
Wi-Fi consumes a small amount of current, so turning it off when not needed will contribute positively to battery discharge time.
WAVE (a.k.a. WAVE on Cloud) has also been integrated into the radios and they can optionally operate on a WAVE system together with non-traditional radio devices like the TLK100 and Android-based PoC devices from other vendors.
Indoor Location Enhancement
Current MOTOTRBO radios support Bluetooth 4.x and it has been possible for some time now to track the location of radio users by means of BTLE beacons (a.k.a. iBeacons).
As of R2.10.0, the Indoor Location API has been enhanced to allow applications to request unfiltered beacon buffering in every scan cycle and specify a RSSI Threshold.
Application developers would be able to work with the API (and ADK) to provide more accurate and reliable location data for radios.
Allow Devices to TX Interrupt Wireline Dispatch Application
MOTOTRBO radios are now able to interrupt ongoing voice transmissions from dispatch consoles that use the NAI Voice/Control interface. Once a dispatch console sourced transmission is terminated, the radio user can initiate their own voice or data transmission.
Previously, it was only possible for radios to interrupt other radio (if configured to allow this).
