R5, the DP2000 replacement

The R5 portable two way radio was introduced at the PMR Expo in November. I was busy with other stuff work-wise so haven't got around to writing about this until now.

In short, this is a replacement for the DP2400e and DP2600e. However, when compared to the above models, the R5 comes with the following enhancements:
  • GNSS.
  • An orange (emergency) button on the top.
  • 256 channels (64 on the non-display model).
  • AI-trained noise suppression.
  • Up to 106dB phon loudness.
  • Secure boot processor.
  • MIL-STD 810H.
The R5 shares some things in common with the DP2000 series:
  • It uses the same accessory connector which means it uses the same programming cable and audio accessories.
  • It uses the same charger but the batteries are different.
  • It supports Conventional, IP Site Connect; Capacity Plus and Multisite Capacity Plus operation.
The EMEA product page is here and there is an overview video here. If anything else comes to mind, I'll post it in the comments.
