Automatically backup your RM database

The Radio Management Server Utility (RMServerUtility.exe) now includes a command-line interface for automated and scheduled tasks. Using this, you can now automate routine maintenance like database backups using Windows Task Scheduler thus eliminating a manual process.

The application also provides detailed exit codes so that if something fails, this will be recorded in Windows Event Viewer.

By default, RMServerUtility.exe is located in C\Program Files (v86)\Motorola\RM Server Utility. So to do the below, you will need to be in that folder within command prompt. It needs to run with administrator privileges and lets you manage RM services and clear database locks using the below commands.

RMServerUtility.exe /backup <folder> [<password>] [/nozip]

The above will back up the RM database files to a timestamped subfolder inside <folder>. The /nozip switch is optional and will disable zip compression. You can also specify an optional database encryption password.

You can get information about the other commands (e.g. restore, start and stop) by means of the /?  or  /help switch from the command prompt.
