Some (non-desktop-PC) options for dispatch

Motorola MCD5000

The MCD 5000 Deskset System is an easy to deploy solution, that uses standard IP and can even be powered using PoE. No IP connection into the radio network is needed, as the console uses a Radio Gateway (RGU) and Control Station. The Control Station can either be Analogue E&M; Astro; TETRA or MOTOTRBO.

The MCD 5000 supports all radio features such as group calls and text messaging. Up to four Control Stations can be connected to a RGU and each RGU supports up to 15 desksets.

The Deskset is the same size - and has the same look and feel - of a desk phone.

TIPRO BeFree 10

For users who require feature like location tracking and user control, the TIPRO BeFree 10 running either SmartPTT Plus or TRBONET Plus (or any one of many MOTOTRBO applications) is another option.
The TIPRO BeFree 10 is essentially a Windows touchscreen computer with a gooseneck microphone and intercom functionality. TIPRO make two other models and a selection of keyboards and accessories.

If SmartPTT Plus or TRBONET Plus are used, it's possible to connect directly into the radio IP network - for example into a Capacity Max system via the VRC or into a Capacity Plus system using NAI.

Microsoft Surface Go

For ad-hoc deployments where the above devices wouldn't be practical, a Microsoft Surface Go running SmartPTT Plus or TRBONET Plus would offer all the functionality you would expect from these two applications but in a small and compact form-factor.

Other options include using a POS terminal. What are you using? What has the user experience been like?
