CPS2 slow, this may help.

While the new MOTOTRBO CPS2 introduced many new capabilities, some room was left for improvement. One of these has been the speed of operation, especially on slower and older computers.

One of my Stammgäste - Sam from BTW in Canberra - went under the hood so-to-say and made some adjustments in the CPS's configuration file which makes most, if not all, operations two to three times faster than before depending on the PC.

There are some important changes in the pipeline that will improve the way you work with radio configurations. In the meantime, here a the modified CPS configuration file that Sam made which may help:

English [MD5 hash e0b529485e2efdd726fb1c37705f6b04]
All other languages [MD5 hash b126e04c65e8b706ce15851317e88a5d] results might not be as fast as the above file.

To use it:
  1. Download either of the above files. (Optionally confirm the MD5).
  2. Make sure CPS2 is closed.
  3. Copy(overwrite) the above downloaded CPSshell.exe.config file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\MOTOTRBO CPS 2.0. Optionally, you can create a backup of the existing file by renaming it to CPSshell.exe.config.bak.

Caveat Emptor

The above tweak is very hardware dependant. If you are running CPS2 on a low-end PC, turning off logging may make an improvement. However, if you have a fairly high-end PC (e.g. i7; 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) clean PC, you will probably not notice any difference.

The above tweak also turns off logging which will make it impossible for Motorola Technical Support to help you solve any problems should they require a copy of the log.

Feedback

Your comments and suggestions about the new MOTOTRBO CPS are useful and will be passed onto the team looking after this software. Instead of voicing them in the comments, rather send your feedback to the following email address. If you work for MSI have a look here.

My thanks to my counterpart Aldo for hooking me up with Sam.
