Not really radio related ...

Not really radio related but still useful.

Of late I've been using using this method to install Windows 11. When creating an installation disk, copy the autounattend.xml file to the root and install Windows as usual. This file is known as an answer file which is normally used by large companies to install the Operating System on many computers.

The answer file not only automates the Windows installation but also installs the operating system without any of the bloatware. This is particularly useful for computers used to run programming software. It however does ask whether to enable Windows Defender and Microsoft Edge is still included - leaving Defender disabled is a bad idea!

The UWScript.ps1 file is optional and can be used to undo things that Windows update might have changed post-install. Both files and instructions can be found here.

So far I've used it on three, somewhat weak, computers and noticed a remarkable improvement in speed.

You can also create your own customised autounattend.xml file at schneeegans.de.
