Is Juniper switching something that Motorola considers as a prerequisite for Capacity Max systems?

Q. Is Juniper switching something that Motorola considers as a prerequisite for Capacity Max systems?

A. In my assessment, from a post-sales technical support point of view, yes.

The reason is that many problems are caused by a router or switch misconfiguration and each manufacturer has their own command set (some manufacturers even use different commands for different models of the same hardware) so if Motorola Solutions were to provide support for more manufacturers hardware, my support colleagues would have to have sufficient knowledge about all of these.

Another reason is that some routers and switches are not suitable to be used with Capacity Max. Some folk will go out and buy whatever they can find and then expect my support colleagues to help them fix networking problems.

As far as I know, the SRX300 series and EX2300 undergo regular testing to ensure they support all the protocols and services needed for a system to work.

Then, the trouble is which vendors would one (objectively) choose to include and which models? And what would the selection criteria be?

Capacity Max will work with other makes of routers and switches but if a customer chooses this route and the system doesn't work, it's difficult to help them to fix it because the networking gear adds another unknown.
