🔔 SLR8000 alarm, please help
[Q] I have a SLR8000 used as conventional monosite. After switching on, the repeater restarts after a few minutes then the alarm indicator turns red. Please help me to fix.
[A] I don't think I can help you but there are some things you can check that might help. The alarm indication means one (or possibly more) of the following has occurred:
>> Measured RF power is lower than expected.
>> Modem board faulty.
>> PA board faulty.
>> Temperature on the PA or on the external sensor (if installed) is too high.
>> VSWR is too high.
>> One or more fans faulty.
>> Low battery voltage.
Things to check:
- Start by checking cabling and anything else that seems amiss.
- Check the antenna VSWR.
- Try reading the codeplug to make sure there isn't a configuration error.
- Connect to the repeater via ethernet and open the status page. Login and click on repeater alarms. Look at the alarms and try to resolve what caused the most recent alarm.
Things to think about:
- Does the repeater work normally otherwise until the alarm appears?
- Is the problem isolated to this repeater only?
- When was the repeater installed and when did this problem appear? If this problem appeared some time after installation, think carefully about anything that was changed or done at that time or shortly before the problem appeared?
- Does the alarm appear every time after switching on? Do you have to do some action to get the alarm to appear?
- Does the alarm appear after X minutes every time?
As mentioned in a previous post, it is really difficult for me to provide an accurate diagnosis without a complete understanding of the problem. I would need to do various tests and ask many questions. Also, solving technical problems is not really my area of expertise (anymore) so if some investigative work is needed, you would need to get hold of someone from technical support - this could be a Reseller or Distributor.
