SLR1000 not getting an IP address
I wanted to tell about a solution for SLR1000 not being recognized completely on USB. The symptoms, the repeater got a 169.254.x.y APIPA address and could not be read/written. This happens only on some PCs, removing and reinstalling all network and Motorola stuff did not help, and other radios like DP4801e or R7 or SL1600 get the right address. So I guess the USB enumeration implementation is somehow different on the SLR1000. Windows version is 11 24-something, and repeater firmware R2024.2-something, all up to date for the time of this experience.
After long hours of try and error I found as the only solutions to set the addresses manually. To fit the usual Motorola defaults, I used this:
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.10.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.10.1
When DNS address is requested, anything like 0.0.0.0 can be entered, this has no meaning for this setup. The "IPv4 address" is the address of the PC and "Default Gateway" is the address of the repeater. These should work for a "virgin" repeater.
Of course the same should apply when this happens with a radio, the principle is always the same for USB programming.
