Looking for antenna switches that will work with Motorola SLR5500?
[Q] I am looking for antenna switches that will work with Motorola SLR5500. The majority of switches on the market are 10W, but I need 50W. [...]
[A] I had this question at work some time ago and found the following products/suppliers:
I have no experience with any of the above switches but the information in the datasheets indicate they would be a good match. My suggestion would be to make contact with the supplier and confirm with them which product would be a good fit from their point of view (all of them offer several models including the above).
Some things to think about:
If the repeater will be operating as a Base Station in analogue mode, you can use a RF relay (electromechanical device). Base Station mode would be used when the repeater is connected to a dispatch system (see this post).
If the repeater will be operating in digital mode; using a single frequency (a.k.a. ERDM or single frequency repeater), then one of the above high speed RF switches are needed. A RF relay cannot be used in this case.
The PMLN7263A, sold as an accessory for the SLR1000, cannot be used with the SLR5500.
A circulator will not work.
Another option - in this case only - would be to use two antennas. Since the repeater will emit RF at the same as it is receiving, the antennas can be mounted at the same height. The downside of this option is that you would need two RF cables and two antennas and with the current price of good coax, it can be costly.
If using one of the above switches, you would need to make up a custom control cable (D25M to X) and the repeater needs some configuration (see this post).
If you know of any other switches that can be used, please add the details in the comments.
