I would like to know if we can record simultaneously?

[Q]
I would like to know if we can record simultaneously on two recorders in a MOTOTRBO IP Site Connect system with 4 repeaters on 4 sites?

Currently I have TRBONET that is recording using CSBK and now that i have licensed Eventide NexLog to record with NAI Voice/Data licenses enabled on both the recorder and repeater side, i am not able to record at all though the recorder can see the master recorder.

The Nexlog only records when i turn off  TRBONET. We have tried using different ports on the Nexlog [50005 instead of 50000] after defining it as a peer 5 on the system but still same issue. It looks that the MOTOTRBO recorders are not able to send the voice content to the recorder at all.

Can you thus confirm if:
we need to set the TRBONET to record with NAI Data/Voice license instead of CSBK?
ii) The MOTOTRBO repeaters can sustain dual or multiple simultaneous recording?

[A] What you are describing should be possible. Both the NexLog and TRBONET instances are seen by the repeater network as peer devices and wide area voice calls will stream to both applications.

Some checks:
  1. Have you read this article?
  2. Have you followed the configuration instructions in the TRBONET setup guides?
  3. Have you followed the configuration instructions in the Eventide NexLog MOTOTRBO IPSC integration document?
  4. If the answer to all of the above (or at least 2 and 3) is yes, have you contacted either of the above vendors to get support? I am assuming that you are using TRBONET Enterprise.
  5. Are both applications running on the same host? There may be some resource conflicts that could cause this. My suggestion would be to try running either (whichever is easiest) on a seperate VM or machine -  at least that's how I like to do things.
  6. Is TRBONET working correctly otherwise?
If none of the above prove to be of any help, my suggestion would be to contact support - see here.

CSBK (Control Signaling Blocks) do not contain any voice traffic. They do however contain call setup information. I don't recall seeing a setting in TRBONET (Plus) that asks to record with NAI Data/Voice or CSBK. In any case, recording CSBKs will only record information about calls and not the calls themselves.

For the repeaters, there are two feature licences that are relevant here: NAI Data and NAI Voice/CSBK. To log voice calls (without requiring control stations), you will need NAI Voice/CSBK. I have written a post about this which you can read here.

Nexlog only being able to record when TRBONET is turned off somehow makes me think that there may be a duplicate Peer ID or Radio ID in either application. This may be something to look into.

Without details it's difficult for me to make concrete suggestions. In the end, the best place to get help is Motorola Solutions technical support.
Maybe one of my readers will make some additional/better suggestions in the comments!

For those reading along at home: The person asking the above question contacted me separately and I referred them to Motorola Solutions technical support as well as my counterpart for their region.
